E15:oGFx Demo

You need Adobe Flash Player to watch videos on this site.

Welcome to E15:oGFx, by Kyle Buza and Luis Blackaller.

E15:oGFx is much more than an OpenGL wrapper. It is part of an integrated graphics programming environment that gives you access to OpenGL and Apple's major graphics resources through a Python interpreter and API.

E15:oGFx is a livecoding system for computational design.

>> Technical specifications:

E15:oGFx runs on MacOSX 10.5 Leopard. Any Intel-based Mac should work fine.

This video is an accelerated (2x) demonstration of E15:oGFx. This is not meant to replace the unique interactive experience of using E15:oGFx, but illustrates an approximation of what it is.

Click on the "eval" button in the scripting console to run the example E15:oGFx program. If you are a Python programmer and understand the code in the script you can try changing some code, and click the "eval" button again to see the changes in the animation. For example, scroll down to the bottom of the code, find the line "history(100, 0.045, 0.05)" and change it to "history(20, 0.45, 0.05)". The "history" command will now render a shorter time slice.

Aditional scripts and images are available online in the following URLs:

-2: E15Gravity, E15Curves, E15Vertigo
For simplicity, we have hidden the scripting console in each of these applications. Press the "spacebar" key to start running the script, and use the "right" arrow key to step through the animation sequence. Should the user decide to step back to a previous step in the animation, the "left" arrow key can be used to do so.
