Midnight Concert in Lobby 7 (1979)
This beautiful midnight concert of Bach music held in Lobby 7 in December 1979 showcases the musical talents of the MIT community. Presented by the MIT Chamber Players and conducted by Prof. Marcus Aurelius Thompson. First piece: Brandenburg Concerto N. 5 by J. S. Bach: Jonathan Friedman '83 (flute), Tim Morgenthaler '81 (violin), Mark Kroll (harpsichord), Jeremy Grace '83 (cello). Second piece (at 24:30): Magnificat by J. S. Bach: Andrea Bradford (soprano), Jeffrey Gall (alto), Karl Dan Srenson (tenor), Robert Honeysucker (bass), Barbara Knapp (oboe d'amore), Luz Martinez-Miranda '83 (harpsichord), Jeremy Grace '83 (cello), Ira Moskowitz (bass), Tom Stephenson (bassoon), and members of the MIT Choral Society and friends. What a treat from MIT’s musical past. Also very neat is seeing Marcus Thompsom as very young musician and conductor. Bravi! Note the non-necessity of formal seating.
