A. Neil Pappalardo - Reflections on an MIT Education (2008)

A. Neil Pappalardo '64 shares his life story during an inspirational 2008 talk titled "Reflections on an MIT Education." Introduced by MIT President Susan Hockfield, Pappalardo explains the lessons he learned at MIT and the challenges he faced when he founded MEDITECH, which became a leading supplier of information systems for 2,200 hospitals in the US, Europe, Australia, and Africa. MEDITECH information systems allow health care providers to track a patient's history and monitor ongoing treatment for chronic health problems, regardless of a patient's location. Today Pappalardo is a MIT Corporation life member and the Chairman and CEO of Medical Information Technology. At MIT, Pappalardo also created the Pappalardo Fellowships Program in Physics to support promising young physicists and he endowed the Neil and Jane Pappalardo Professorship of Mechanical Engineering.
