Dynamic Walking 2010. Andre Seyfarth. Stable walking and running: how leg geometry and compliance shapes the way we move
Leg function can be adapted to different gaits and environmental conditions. Here we investigate, to what extent the structure of the segmented leg and the upright posture of the trunk affects the dynamics and stability of legged locomotion. With the help of simple conceptual models we demonstrate how the control effort can be relaxed by relying on compliant leg function and by formulating generalized movement criteria
