Jason Chen LGO '12 on a Passion for Internal Combusion Engines
Jason Chen, a 2012 graduate of the MIT Leaders for Global Operations program, talks about an elective engineering course in Internal Combustion Engines (2.61) he took in his final semester at MIT. The course, a core graduate requirement of Course 2 (Mechanical Engineering), gave Jason an appreciation for the entire system of the engine, from flame propagation to metallurgy to design for manufacturing.
Jason says that "Prof. Cheng had knowledge about the thermochemistry, the fluid dynamics, the design history...for him to deliver this knowledge in 90-minute lectures was so much fun. I feel that having struggled through this class and being able to appreciate the world in a more deep and technical way will help me in whatever technical role I have in the future. That's why this was one of my favorite MIT experiences."
