Faraday's Cage

In the electric field of a Van de Graaff generator, an unprotected Ben Franklin feels electrostatic forces. However, when a metal cage surrounds him, he is completely shielded against any electricity or electrostatic force.

This is due to the fact that all charges in a conductor reside on the outer surface, and always rearrange themselves to cancel out the electric field in the interior.

hula tiula kkakak ddii..
- thats another comment in Greek and Latin for you…

On a more serious note, would sincerely request you to permit comments in English only. I’m from India and I just don’t understand why people who speak some European language must insist on getting their views across only in their own language. Why cant they speak English like the rest of us?

PS: Your video is great. Keep up the good work!

Parag,
India.

Hi Parag, We want to try to keep the site as open as possible. You can always do what I do and use Google Translation to see what they’re saying. The fun part is guessing what language it is. :)

If everything was done in English where would be our cultures by now? That was written in Portuguese, by the way.
