June 21, 2011 A group of graduate student present Dr. Cesar Hidalgo's work on The Building Blocks Of Economic Complexity. The stepping stone, Adam Smith and his work in trying to understand why different countries had differing diversity of capabilities, the students used a Method of Reflection for quantification purposes in which they validated their findings by producing a model. They strived to understand why countries were linked to products and vice versa, why products were not linked to products, and countries not linking to other countries. In addition, with their model they aimed to demonstrate and predict future product exports.
