This lecture at TEDGlobal 2010 introduced the idea that “I am my connectome.” The slogan summarizes the hypothesis that personality traits, memories, mental disorders, and other aspects of personal identity are encoded in the pattern of connections between the brain’s neurons. 

Sebastian Seung is mapping a massively ambitious new model of the brain that focuses on the connections between each neuron. He calls it our "connectome," and it's as individual as our genome -- and understanding it could open a new way to understand our brains and our minds.
