Machine Shop 3 total run time: 30:02
3:30 Machining Skills for Prototype Development:
3:31 1) Basic 3 Belt Sander move part back & forth to eliminate hot spots holding part properly will keep fingers from getting sucked into machine along with part.
2) Good Practice – Clean Up dust: toxic dusts: 3:36 vacuum attached: fine particles. large particles sit and get swept up. wear dust mask.
3) Small Belt Sander Configurations sand surfaces in notches & grooves
4) Grinder Operations and Materials making different tools for specialized purposes. types of application: review never grind aluminum: aluminum becomes embedded in stone and stick, therefore no aluminum smearing aluminum on aluminum, no grinding going on dress wheel to remove aluminum: dresser has star wheels softer steel than stone teeth pounds on wheel and breaks up aluminum and cleans up stone
3:47 5) Deburring and Buffing supposed to be guards to protect you (3:51) in this case you could get caught. hah! he demonstrated what happens when you improperly handle w/o guard also applies to buffing wheel (esp with furry finish of wheel can easily pull it out of your hands)
3:53 6) Finishing Techniques cloth buffing wheel: turn on wheel, press abrasive (mixed with wax) stick onto wheel. then you can start buffing
Shop Skills: course for students test format description appreciation for difficulty and danger of working under stress of noisy env. no more than 6 students at a time. then tested on each machine. 3:56
