The Organizing Framework Behind US Science Agencies: Stokes and Ruttan

Part of the second class in the series of IAP classes titled "Fundamentals of Science and Technology Public Policy-Making - Sci/Tech Policy Boot Camp."  The lecturer is William B. Bonvillian, Director at the MIT Washington Office.  This class will posit the argument that Sci/Tech organization is a third direct innovation factor and examine the organizational framework behind the mix of U.S. science agencies, their missions and research organizational models.  It will examine the basic science agencies and contrast it wih the DARPA model as an organizational alternative.  So this class will look at the U.S. innovation system at the institutional level, emphasizing the organization of federal science support.
