Megacities and Sustainability
Dr. Edgar Blanco, Research Director, MIT CTL, Executive Director, MIT SCALE Network, Latin America
Megacities – cities with a population of at least 10 million people – are growing in size and number, and are expected to account for about 20% of world GDP within a decade. Dr. Blanco will draw on recent research to map the supply chain challenges posed by these metropolises, and talk about a major research initiative to help companies develop megacity markets. The research is also relevant for companies doing business in any large urban area; markets that are increasingly important given the global population shift from rural to city environments.
