In this amazing and inspiring talk, Shai Agassi makes the case for the battery powered car. And, as a "systems thinker" he discusses the implications of going from molecules to electrons, using postal mail and email as examples of each. But the real insight is in the impulse to make a hybrid—think fax machines—molecules to bits and back to molecules—the perfect hybrid. Says Agassi, "in every industry the incumbent goes to hybrids." So as our failing automobile industry tries to figure it out, perhaps we can all benefit from this type of systems thinking, and focus on what it will take to make the battery powered car the disruptive technology of the 21st century.
