I've taken my recent experiments in 3-phase motor control hardware and put it into a nicer package. The controller is 100x80x30mm, not including the fan, built with IRFB3207 MOSFETs, which can handle quite a lot of current as demonstrated by the electric go-kart controller from last summer. (100A for a 3-phase inverter? Just a guess. This was only a 20A warm-up test, and the heating was negligible.)
Cheap brushless controllers for RC planes are ultracompact already, but this is designed more for small electric vehicles. It can do full torque control, including regenerative braking, by regulating current instead of voltage or speed. As always, wireless programming and data acquisition comes standard.
The controller will be used in a Razor-style scooter with a brushless hub motor, coming soon from the Edgerton Center Summer Engineering Workshop team.
