Self-Portrait With Lab

Video by: Christina Agapakis (2010)
My first project for 21A.339 Documenting Science Through Video and New Media. A day in the lab, but with much faster editing. My lab works on synthetic biology, engineering cells to produce fuels or as a way to study basic biology and cancer progression in human cells. The rhythms of daily experiments in molecular biology are the same no matter what we're working on--growing cells in tubes and petri dishes, moving bits of DNA around with pipettes, trying to keep things sterile. These rhythms define the life of a scientist and out of them we define science as well.
