A Starr Forum event presented on March 2, 2010
A discussion with Maria Balinska, Jason Pontin, and Susan Glasser
Firle Davies, the Center's Elizabeth Neuffer Fellow, introduced the event
About the event and speakers:
Journalism is in a crisis. Newspapers are going out of business; editors and reporters are losing their jobs. "Death of the News?" brings together a panel of experts to discuss the rise of online media and its impact on global society. Speakers Maria Balinska (Nieman Fellow, Harvard), Susan Glasser (Foreign Policy), & Jason Pontin (Technology Review) will discuss about how to save the news in a vanishing era of newspapers.

I myself am part of the group that is heading away from print. I catch up on almost all of my news via the internet, or occasionally tv.

I saw an article on google about this as well:
http://www.google.com/search?q=newspapers+going+out+of+business&ie=utf-8&
p90xoe=utf-8&abuyp90xq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Lastly I would like to say, people need to embrace change, I don’t think journalism is in a crisis, I think with every passed opportunity another comes along. There are plenty of writers who have taken up blogging and made a killing. Embrace change, don’t fight it
