President Susan Hockfield welcomes you to the CPW keynote lecture, delivered this year by Amy Smith, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Smith, an MIT graduate (B.S. ‘84, M.S. ‘95), is an inventor and teacher who is dedicated to developing technologies that address a variety of issues that people face in developing countries. She has inspired generations of MIT students to follow her lead in fixing the world's problems, primarily within populations whose needs are most critical.
